How do you say that?!

I've had it all my life, and believe me it has been said every which way! Do you know how hard it is to find things with a U on it, let alone my whole name? So the few times I have been in Germany I would pick something up with my name or initial. Not too many Ulrike's in the states, but when I went to school in Germany I had one in my class. When I moved back east from being out west I had gone to the grocery store to stock up. The cashier said to me, do you know that there is someone else here in town with your name?!! Quite a surprise.

So, a few items I have with my name. A name I love, it's unique, like me!

Hi Ulrike,

You have a nice collection of mugs! I can imagine it must be difficult to find something with a U in the US. In Holland 'Ulrike' is not a common name either. I don't know of any other girls names in Holland with a U. Maybe Ursula, but thats it...

Wish you a Happy day!

Oh, that cup in the middle I know. I think, you bought it to Hamburg port?
=) Down at the Landungsbrücken? =)

Boy do I know how you feel. Up until 8th grade I was the only Anke in class, then we were three! That was in Germany, but here in the States, never met another one. Also can't find anything with my name on it and people have a hard time pronouncing it. I've answered to a lot of different variations of my name since we moved here. :-)

It's great to have a name that really suits you. Our elder son has the same problem with 'nameed' objects, as his name is a little unusual, especially in France.

Because I usually use my nickname, I have no real interest in objects with my real name on. It think this disappoints my parents!

There a little things, but they mean a lot to you.
The mug from Hamburg looks very interesting;)
Thank you for your visits,

Liebe Ulrike,
ich glaube auch, dass die Tassen so einzigartig wie du sind. Als ich klein war, hatte ich eine Freundin mir dem selben Name. Ich liebte diesen Namen und hätte ihn auch gern gehabt.
Ganz lieben Gruß, Petra

Hi Ulrike,

I just read your reply to my question about the beautiful rose on your blog. Ohh, I am so sorry you had to go through so much trouble to find out the name. If I had known it would be so difficult I would not have asked it to you......Please forgive me. It just is such a pretty rose!! But....if your grandmother or the garden website knows the name, I would love to know :-)!!

Thanks again & a happy evening!

Lieve groet, Madelief
