A little vistor to the garden

I was outside capturing some last summer flowers and then I heard it. The buzzing, the chirping, and the fly by! I had interrupted the hummingbird among the flowers. We always put out feeders too for them every year. Sometimes they arrive as early as late March (which will be here before you know it!). They are getting what they can for their long journey, and by golly I was going to be there to capture it! I stood there for 20 minutes until she got use to me (at least I think it was a she). 20 long minutes with a few occasional rain drops; what we will do to get photos!!!

The fly by, I know it is a little hard to see as I had my camera on zoom, but you can still see her.

Playing hide and seek with me!

I'll wait here while you take my picture.

Ok, a few more poses for you, and then I'm off!

I love hummingbirds, don't you?

Love hummingbirds! I painted many of them in the past, you've inspired me to do that again!

Hi Ulrike,

Thanks for the sweet email you sent me. I read it today! How special to have a hummingbird in your garden. We don't have them in Holland. It must have been difficult to caputure it on camera, but you did very well! Have a wonderful evening.

Love, Madelief

Mom, those look great. Not sure how she let you catch her in those photos! They look like their wings are gone they flitter them so fast. Love you.

I love them too but I've never seen one in France.

Hello Ulrike

Thanks for visiting my blog.
What must it have been for a magical moment
but you have visited the hummingbirds.
How tiny they are.
Since you have to shoot safely fast, so
They will also get you into the picture.

You got some great shots! They're hard to photograph! I do like them! We had a feeder out for them which they ignored but the ants loved. They seem to prefer the zinnias!

Guess I need to learn to use the wildlife setting on the new camera -- these little sweet birdies are so hard to catch with those wings moving SO fast! You did a great job catching these.
