A garden 20 years ago

Such a rainy day here that I went looking through some old photos. I found some that I have not seen in ages, and since it is getting closer to spring I thought that I would share these few from a home and garden show that was held in Atlanta....probably close to 20 years ago!!!
A welcome sign of spring, tulips at the door

The "wabbit" is in the garden!

A lovely place to sit and enjoy the "spring"

Don't you wish your yard could look like that?

I wanted to go to the home and garden show this year, but forgot they have it in January!! So, I missed it again. I'm always amazed though how they can have all of those plants blooming at that time! So, maybe next year, but for now I'll take a look and enjoy my spring flowers that are finally popping up!

What eye candy you've given us with this post, Ulrike! And, yes, I would love for my gardens to look like these featured here today.

On my little trip to the compost bin this afternoon I noticed that the snow has melted away on the bank. I have daffodils planted on that bank, in and around shrubs, etc. and the greenery of the daffodils was sticking up about 4-5 inches above ground today! I guess all of this snow we've had has been good insulation for them!
I love spring!

Pretty pictures! I have been to the Southern Spring Show in Charlotte, NC a couple of times. It has been years since my last trip to the show. Maybe next year I'll try to catch it. Hope the sun returns for you soon! Carla

Those are beautiful, especially the one with the bench. That would be a great place to sit and enjoy the garden. I wish our backyard was like that... We've been in our house now for a little over 3 years, so every year we do a little more in the yard. Maybe one day we'll have a picturesque garden like that... One can dream, right?

I had to read your post twice, because the first time I thought I was seeing photos of YOUR home and gardens.

I was going to be pea-green with envy! LOL

House and Garden shows are fun - I haven't been to one in years - but you've given me the bug.

What lovely photos! It's a shame you missed the garden show but there's always next year. You have a lovely blog. I stopped by to say hello and stayed much longer than I planned. I'll be back often.

Are the garden shows in Atlanta still nice such as these pictures are showing? Here in Augusta we have a “Home and Garden” show. It is more geared towards home improvements then gardening so we are disappointed each year. We opt out this year as I did not want the disappointment. I looked on the Internet for a Garden Show in Atlanta and saw we had missed it. Next year, I will be looking for it now that I know it is in January…

Hello Ulrike!

So we both love flowers and we both like tins! It is nice to meet people with similar interests.

I know once the weather is nice enough (and all of the snow is melted) that I will be outside more and not have as much time inside either. I've been trying to get some deep cleaning done inside so that when the weather does break I can be outside sprucing up the outside!

Have a wonderful evening and thanks again for stopping by!

Your teapots sound so nice...and they do keep the tea nice and warm. That is the thing I enjoy about the bowls, too. We use them every day, whether it is for our morning porridge or for part of our evening meal. And the tumblers keep the drinks cold longer, too.

I'd love to see your pottery...especially that you acquired while you were out west. Have you ever seen the black pottery from Mexico? Our daughter has several pieces of that from when they were living in Mexico City. It is absolutely gorgeous and the designs worked in it are so intricate.

Never mind you missed the show, there's always next year and in the mean time you can look at all the lovely pics you took from previous shows. ;-) Thanks for sharing!

Hello Ulrike,
so wonderful pictures, even if they are twenty years old.... lovely bulb flowers. We just have to wait until the weather is getting better and when I walk into the garden the last days I see that there is sooo much to do.
Have a great weekend!
Viele herzliche Grüße

Hello

Thank you for your visit with me. So I can now enjoy your garden. Beautiful flowers photos show you. So I would also like a greenhouse. I had a small, blown away is that last year's storm. And even when there's snow, I wait anxiously for the spring.

I wish you many pleasant hours in the garden, warm greetings Melontha

This looks like gardens here in Holland. I never really thought about gardening until I came here. They put alot of time, effort and love into their gardens no matter the size. I hope one of tulips is blooming in your heart today.

Hugs from Holland ~

Hi Ulrike,
thats really funny, even to write, Hi Ulrike! Although I did'nt found anybody (who has a blog) with that name in Germany yet, great to know somebody in U.S.A.. So, great that you visited me. Maybe we stay a while in contact. Try my best in English, but it's not good, even I spent a year in the States as an AuPair 17 years ago.
Have a nice weekend!
Ulrike

Hello,
We have had a little rain over the last couple of days. I think we are expecting the heavy rain a little later tonight. If you have a shady spot, it would be perfect for some hellebores. They are really pretty- I just wish they didn't hang their heads so. The blooms look nice floating in a bowl. Have a wonderful weekend. Carla

Hello Ulrike!
I just found your sweet comment.

I wanted to come right over and tell you that I've had the same thoughts as your husband would say about the no news being good news. For the most part...that is where I stay, but now and then I find myself thinking the "what if's".

My mother used to tell me that if I wanted to lose weight I'd better do it before I turned 50 because after that it wouldn't come off. Well...I turned 60 last October and it really is coming off. I was amazed because basically all I've done is cut back on my portion size, and started cooking differently...especially with the natural sweeteners as opposed to good old white sugar that I've grown up on. I started realizing that I have a lot less fibromyalgia pain when I'm not using the white sugar, too.

You are a blessing...when I read that your scales were talking back to you I had to chuckle. I needed that today, Ulrike.

Have a wonderful weekend.

"Hey!", we used to live in Marietta about 24 years ago and I just absolutely loved it! We lived in a new subdivision that was heavily wooded and the wild dogwoods were just amazing! I love Garden shows, but rarely make it to them. We've had a long hard winter here, so things are a little slower this spring.
Great photos,
hugs,
Debra
