92 years young

Today my grandmother is 92 years young. As she puts it she never thought that she would live to this age! When I was a child and we would head for the mountains of North Carolina (no matter where we were) my grandmother would always be busy with her hillside of flowers. I believe that is one reason why she has remained "young"! She raised nine children, and when I think of families today who say they have it hard with one or two I just shake my head. My German grandparents had eight children. Those times were full of hardship, very little money, and in the case of my German grandparents, a war right at their front door.
I don't know if I will make it to that age, but I know one thing, if I do I want to be known as that young thing!!

Hi Ulrike,

Congratulations on the birthday of your grandmother! She looks a lot younger then 92. Your so fortunate to have her still around. I wish my grandparents were still alive, but they all died in the 80s. I still miss them sometimes. Is that you with your father and your daughter on the picture? Have a lovely evening!

Lieve groet, Madelief

Yes, that is my father and my daughter on her wedding day a few years back. Not the greatest picture of me! I was so tired from doing all of the wedding, but it was so worth it after everyone said how nice it looked.

What a beautiful lady - I'm late but still sending belated wishes that her birthday was a day of celebration. That's a lovely pic of you all at the wedding.

My mum lived to 91, bless her - I miss her so. My mother-in-law is now 91 and we'll be off to see her in Penn. next week!

Do I want to live to be that age? Umm, I'm thinking about that - it's a long, long time!!
