The dainty ones

I am so excited! I thought that I would show you the dainty ones in the shade today. I got the lily of the valley last year from another aunt who warned me that they would take over given the chance. Doesn't matter, I'll deal with it when it happens, but look! is it not pretty?!! I also have bleeding heart, the "wild" geranium, and a trillium that I also got from my aunt that was growing like crazy in her woods.

It's sad that they don't last all summer. Though I have seen inpatients sprouting up from where I had them last year. We will see if they can make it. Now I am off to check out some fencing as the chickens love all the soft, moist areas too!

If those flowers take over, I'm not sure that would be a bad thing. They are beautiful. Carla

You know what Ulrike, I love those lily of the valleys! They smell so good. Plant it where it can spread. Mine tend to fade away midsummer but that's okay, it is a good spring flower. Can't be beat for interest. Love the bleeding heart. You have a great day! Hope some rain made it your way. None here yet but is coming. Yeah!

I love these Spring flowers, and yes, especially with the wild ones, they just don't last long enough!
I have some of the red trilliums growing in the ditch across the road, and have to be careful shooting pics......poison ivy abounds!

XXOO!!

Lily of the valley remind me of my grandmother! She had a huge bed of them outside the front door of her house. I loved them dainty little white beauties. I planted some last year but they never came up, Sigh....

Good morning. Lily of the Valley are so very dainty and smell so good. I've heard of Lily of the Valley perfume but never been able to find any. I'd like to smell it. They do tend to spread so you will have lots in a couple years.

Hi Ulrike,

Love them all! They are so pretty! I have 'The lady in the bath' in our garden as well (pink and white), but the white one doesn't do that well... Yours look very healthy!

Dear Ulrike,
Here in Germany, the lily of the valley, geranium and tearful hearts are not ready yet. But I'm really looking forward to it. A few I have in the garden.
Greetings

Birgit

Ulrike I love the bleeding hearts and lily of the valley (Maigloeckchen) in your garden. I never tried growing them here because we don't have a shady enough area in our garden. They do look so pretty and they smell soooo good.

Your blooms are so lovely and I'm sure they smell good too. I didn't write down the name of the petunia you asked about so when I return and get some for my garden I will be sure to share their name.

I've never been able to get lilies of the valley to work here - maybe because I've tried just from seeds!

Love all the shade/woodland plants - you even have trillium, lucky you!
