Spring Festival at the Biltmore

The spring festival at the Biltmore officially started on the 7th, however I think that we got a most beautiful preview!

And my hubby wonders why I love arches and trellises!  I want to see this in the summer with the roses blooming.

So many cute sitting areas

They have 3 or 4 greenhouses where they grow a lot of plants that they also put inside the Biltmore house

Pretty colors!

I used to have orchids, however I want my plants to bloom all summer!

Cute!

I like all the cute arrangements they have

This was called a grandfather cactus.  Pretty unique!

I have some smaller birdcages hmmmm

I saw this and loved it!  Bamboo from the neighbor here it comes!

If I had a rock wall as tall as this one......

We left the "older" ladies at the garden center, and hoofed it back to pick up the car.  You see a different view on the way back.

I love the very huge pots!

This was in the garden center store, and I love the glass hanging jars.  It wasn't until later that I noticed how the peacock looks.

The Biltmore also has a huge winery.  Hey, with 8,000 acres you have to grow something!  They took some of their wine bottles and made a lamp with it.

Look familiar?  Would you believe that I saw one just like this the next exit up from me?  They sell wooden outdoor sets, and they had one like this but in yellow.  If I go by and it is still there then I know it is calling my name!

Notice the dark clouds gathering?

Storm clouds moving in, but this made a great photo taken from the car.

There were stone bridges to cross, creeks, rivers, all of it so beautiful.

Yes, it did start storming on us.  I told you from the previous post anytime I go somewhere with my neighbor it rains!  We were able to see quite a bit yet we missed out on the farm village.  The ladies were tired and ready for our three hour drive home.
If you would like to see more of the Biltmore here is a link to it.  http://www.biltmore.com/  If you ever get to Asheville, North Carolina I highly recommend seeing it, but wear good walking shoes!  I hope you have enjoyed my photos.

Tulip time at the Biltmore

I don't know if I will ever make it to Holland to see the tulips, but these came a close second!

I can't even guess how many tulips were planted.  I did ask what they did with the tulips when they were finished, and was told  if they were not in the perennial bed that they were given to the employees.  I'd like to be an employee that day!  More garden photos to come!

Biltmore Trip

I have now been to the Biltmore House three times.  This was the first time that I got to see all of the spring bulbs and azaleas which were just beautiful.  I thought that I had some of my old photos already on the computer, but apparently not.  One day I will find them, and show you more of the house.  Photos of the inside are not allowed so I can't show you that yet trust me it is really amazing!  So here is the brochure, and if you can ever make it to the Biltmore House you will be pleased.

Ours was just a day visit, but the last time we went with my friend standing next to me we got a package deal at one of the area hotels plus three days to the grounds with a visit to the house.  Her hubby when he saw this photo said that there were the three old ladies, and I reminded him one was his wife, the other his mother!

This is looking from the balcony of the above photo

You know me and taking these type photos...I love the details!

Our other member of the party the aunt from Wisconsin

Would have been better with a cool drink in hand, and a chance to relax!

This wisteria tree is huge!  We missed it the last time due to a killing frost, thank goodness for the warm weather!

250 rooms in this home, and the driver from the bus said the whole house is probably 4 acres

I told the girls I'd like to be in one of those rooms when a storm comes through to watch the lightening!

The last time I took a photo of Jan on these stairs she was wrapped up in a coat holding an umbrella.  Every time we go somewhere with them it rains, but this day was beautiful.

Fountains were everywhere.  I'll find those other photos some time and post them

Walk ways with vines everywhere you look

Beautiful Japanese maple tree

The form this tree shows is gorgeous

Look at the tree here.  Everyone stopped to take photos

I have a few azaleas this color

I told one of the gardeners he had my dream job! He told me that is what everyone says although I'm sure it is back breaking work. I'll post more from the Biltmore Gardens tomorrow.
