Trip to the old school

I thought that I would share more Germany photos with you as I did take over 600!! There were two places I wanted to go, and here is one of them. This was the school where I spent probably a year and half at learning. I remember the one thing I did not like was that we had to go to school for a half a day on Saturdays!! That was terrible!!!

I don't remember it this big, and they may have added on which they probably did

I do remember my classroom on the second floor! Look at the colors on these trees! Almost makes you wish for fall just for the colors, but remember I said almost!

I really don't remember this part, but my cousin Irene said this was part of the gathering area.

Here we are being kids again!

This was the way we used to walk back home

One thing that I wanted do which was a must.....visit my Oma and Opa's (grandparents) grave site.

Hubby could not believe how it looked like a park through the area

It is all beautifully kept

A hillside, why? The minute I came upon it I knew it felt familiar. Well bloggers, when winter time came along this was the best spot for us kids to zoom down on sleds!!! They also had these shoes that had little skis on them that was the length of the shoe. Oh how I wanted those shoe skis! We always had to share with our cousins, but waiting for our turn, oh!!!

My cousin and I

Just some nice memories from the "old" school days!
P.S. I read where the last two pics did not show, so I took them off and re-did them. I have no idea what is going on with blogger, but for the last few times it has done that! Very frustrating!!

How nice, Ulrike, when did you go back? Your schoolhouse is a lot bigger than mine was, but it's still standing. I've been thinking of posting about it too.

By the way, the last two photos didn't open for me, but it might just be my old computer ;-)

Thanks for sharing. I love seeing photos from Germany.
Auf Wiedersehen!

The cemetery is beautiful. I love the way they have planting areas separated by brick walkways. And even the school yard is paved with bricks, very nice.

For some reason, I can't see the last two photos. Blogger is giving me fits this morning too. It keeps changing the fonts on my posts.

One thing I still remember from Germany were the beautiful cemeteries. All the flowers...it was gorgeous!
America could learn a lot from that, though in the far south, where there was a lot of European influence, you will occasionally still find the lovely graveyards, filled with flowers.
Enjoyed the visual *trip*!!

XXOO!!

Ulrike, thanks for taking us on a trip down memory lane. The gathering area at the school is called "Pausenhof", as in recess area. I remember being outside for recess all the time, we only stayed indoors when it was pouring rain. German cemeteries are different from American cemeteries, aren't they? For me it is always a must to visit my Opa's grave site, I still miss him after all these years.

It's always lovely to visit places with warm memories of childhood - I love to go home and just walk around my old village and then along my favorite beaches. I was fortunate to live in such a beautiful part of England where the coast and countryside is amazingly beautiful no matter which direction one goes.

The cemetery is so beautifully maintained - never seen one more lovely. You and your cousin looked so happy together. Are you planning another visit soon dear?

Leaving Wed. so won't be commenting for a few weeks - see you when I return. Tell Lori I said hello. Take care Ulrike.
Hugs - Mary

Ulrike, thank you for sharing these memories with us. The pictures are beautiful. Viewing the pictures of the cemetery where you grandparents were laid to rest brought back memories of our trip to Europe many years ago. We stayed in Thun, Switzerland, and there was a cemetery right outside our hotel window. We marveled at its beauty!

I'm so glad you took all those pictures when you were in Germany. They've made for beautiful memories for you...and we were privileged that you shared them with us!
