Young At Heart

Here in the south we rarely get snow or at least just a tiny bit enough to maybe make a pretty picture.  Well, this past week was certainly different!  For the first time in over 30 years we got an abundance of snow (here a whopping 6-8"), for the south that is, just in time for me to celebrate another year older.  It has been ages since I have been on a sled probably the last time was when I was a child over in Germany, but look at me now!
Woo hoo!  My friend and next door neighbor decided to head down the hill with me!
Whoa....going too fast and off to the side we go
What do we do now?
Let's get up and do it again
Whopeeeeee
Then my daughter and I took a turn
One of the neighbor guys went sledding down the road, but it was a long way back!
So they come back to our "mountain"
The dog decided to get in on some of the fun
Hubby waving good-bye
We had a lot of fun, those few days since no one could make it into work.  Yet after the snow came the freezing rain/sleet/ice which made everything like a skating rink.  It was all beautiful though except for this
My gazebo did not make it.  It has gone through a lot all of these years, but this much snow just did it in.  We still have quite a bit of snow on the ground and roads around us, but probably not much longer as  the weather is warming up so it is starting to melt.  What a fun time though, sure did bring back a lot of good memories!

We've had about 7 inches here and it was just crazy for this area. There was no school until yesterday and the kids had an absolute blast playing outside. There's no hill to go sledding on, but they did build a great igloo with their friends. Looks like you guys had a lot of fun sledding. Wish I could have brought my sled (the one I used when I was a kid) over and joined you.. :-)

How fun!! I haven't been sledding in years either. We had 10 inches of snow and it is still on the ground here in Asheville. I wanted to go build a snowman, but with my shoulder surgery, I couldn't.
Hugs,
Penny

Ya'll look like a bunch of kids on the sled! Looks like fun. So sorry about your gazebo. I guess the snow got a little heavy! Carla

Oh it looks like you had such a GOOD TIME!!! I don't have a sled anymore (and think DH would not let me on one with the *factory serviced* hip! LOL!) but my gosh, I was still using mine as an adult! I wish there was enough grade on our property for just a gentle slide.... :-D
And a good time was had by all!
You're never too old for FUN.

XXOO~~♥

Wow - it looks like you all had fun playing in the snow, Ulrike! It has been an unusual winter here so far - very little snow and we're at 10,000 feet!!!

Stay warm & happy, and thank you so much for popping over to visit me!

Hugs,
Zuzu

Hello dear - wonderful to stop by and find you all having so much fun!!! Like you, we enjoyed the snow, but other than spend time taking photos outside, I didn't do much in the way of Winter sports like you Craig and Lori!! Brave souls you three!!!!

Shame about your little gazebo collapsing, fortunately ours is still standing but sure will need a new stain job after this brutal Winter. Your potting shed looks pretty in the snow - know you are loving it.

Ulrike, I've been remiss commenting and apologize, especially after all your visits to my blog recently, many thanks dear. We traveled some, and then had a lot of company which kept us busy over the holiday season. Then this renovation I'm doing at the townhouse I sold has kept me so very busy, but at last, this week, I can see the light at the end of the tunnel - one more big job (hardwood flooring downstairs) and I'm done hopefully.

Spring is somewhere out there, guess w're all ready for it after this long, cold Winter. Bob and I send best wishes to you and Craig for a wonderful New Year - and we do hope we get to see you again.
Warm hugs - Mary

P.S. Your wine jelly is awesome, just like your honey - thanks again for sharing such delicacies Ulrike.

What a lot of snow you have had! And a lot of fun!
Here all the snow has gone some days ago, but according to the weather forecast it will be snowing again tomorrow! I would have preferred spring to come a little bit earlier than usual!
Liebe Grüße, Monika

Hi Ulrike,

Sorry to hear about your gazebo. I hope you can fix it?!! It looks like you all had lot's of fun sleighing down your hill! In Holland all the snow has long gone, but it is still very cold. Just bought some extra thermo socks today to keep my toes warm :-)!

Enjoy your weekend!

Lieve groet, Madelief
