I can grow a lot of things except for orchids. They are so gorgeous, and the flowers seem to last forever. My hubby used to bring orchids home from the office as the company that were bringing them in would throw them out, and replace them with other plants. Hubby brought one home a few months back, and I also received one when my dad past. That one is still blooming! It is why I like them...they go on and on.
When we went down to Florida last year I wanted to visit the Naples Botanical Gardens. Absolutely beautiful! The first thing I saw...orchids!
I'll be posting more photos from the gardens for a little while. I am trying to post more so for the moment it may be one or two photos! Oh, and a little tip I learned when I received the tea cup orchid. The friend told me that she was told with hers to put an ice cube in the pot off to the side. She said hers is doing great, and mine? It is getting new growth so I guess there is something to it!

I absolutely LOVE orchids....and can kill them faster than anything.
For a while, I had three going that were doing good. I don't know if there was a change in household humidity, or our water, but they went into a slow demise, one by one, until I admitted defeat and pitched the sad remnants..... <:-(
I'd love an orchid greenhouse!

Dear Ulrike,
So good to see one of your posts again, but sorry to hear of the loss of your father. I hope it will get easier in time.
Thinking of you!
A big hug,

I do enjoy orchids, but I've not had much luck with them. Maybe I should try again and use the ice cub trick.
I grew orchids for a number of years when I had more spare time. I had them growing under halide and sodium lights and they really were beautiful. AAaahhhh, memories.
