Moonshadow, moonshadow

Do you remember that song? I believe Cat Stevens sung it back in the 70's. Well, we have had a very bright, full moon these past few days.  The woods are lit up with shadows from the moon shining so brightly, and the critters in the woods are having a ball running here and there.  So, when I think of that song I think of this plant except I say
Moonflower, moonflower!  Is it not gorgeous?  This flower was huge with an extra bonus....the smell was divine....like an exotic perfume that you want to follow.  This one vine grew perhaps 10 feet so it showed off a lot of flowers.  I took quite a few seeds from it, and I am hoping that they will do well this year.  It is one vine that I definitely want to have again even if the flowers do show off at night like the bright moon in the sky!

That is incredibly beautiful, Ulrike. I love them! I used to have one before we moved here eleven years ago. I'm thinking that maybe I should try to find one for here, after being reminded of just how beautiful they are. Thanks so much for the reminder!

That is one of my favorite flowers, and soooo hard to grow up here due to the long time they need to sprout and then mature. I have had them a couple of time and feel blessed with each and every blossom!
And yes, the scent is heavenly---powdery, old fashioned, sweet!
What a nice break from the late winter mud!

Hi Ulrike,

What a huge flower. I have never seen anything like it! I am not sure if flowers like these will grow in Holland as well. I will check!

The Kings Speech was great! You have to go. It's a very 'slow' movie, but full om humour and great dialogues. You will like it!!

Happy sunday!

Lieve groetjes van Madelief xox

Catching up as I missed your posts while I was in Calif.

I try to grow these every Summer - plant the seeds in big pots close to the front porch so the will grow up and mix with the blue morning glories - a pretty curtain for sitting on the porch of an evening!
