That is the story I was thinking of! I, like Anne have fond memories with my children when they were small! It was our son's favorite book!

While I am here, I also wanted to thank you for the sweet note you left for me today when you saw the Sunshine Award.

I'm not always the best one to give directions when it comes to the computer...but I can try for you. The way I put the Sunshine on my sidebar is that I saved the picture to my hard drive with my other pics. Then I went to where you do your posts on Blogger, clicked on layout, clicked on Add a Gadget, click on "picture" when the box comes up, then put your picture from your hard drive in the body (just like you were doing a post), then put the picture where you want it on the side bar, click save and you are done. That looks like a lot of words...not really hard though if you just take it a step at a time. Hope that helps.

Thanks again, Ulrike, for the encouraging notes you always leave me.

Hope you enjoyed your day with birthday parties.

DiannaDiannahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15916346102440260126noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-202962061904917598.post-17065533041931022752010-03-13T19:10:40.982-05:002010-03-13T19:10:40.982-05:00Guess you already know it is called "Die Brem...Guess you already know it is called "Die Bremer Stadtmusikanten."
Hope you have lots of fun tonight, enjoy the party!Ankehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16891642887957584851noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-202962061904917598.post-84346195412317241732010-03-13T16:11:08.802-05:002010-03-13T16:11:08.802-05:00Hallo Ulrike,

I was so overjoyed about the bees, I couldn't stand it. I wish I had a better camera - maybe one day ;-)

I am also a collector of Fairy Tales from all over the world. I'm the only German from my Family that moved to America and became a U.S. Citizen, so I call and write "home" all the time. Turns out (I learned later from my much, much younger sister, that my Papa also loves and collects Fairy Tales.) Last Christmas, my sis sent me a 10 CD pack of Fairy Tales that are spoken - of course - in German and I love listening to them while I crochet.

And yes, as previously determined, your picture is from the Fairy Tale called "Die Bremer Stadtmusikanten."

Auf Wiedersehen!
DorisDoris Sturmhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09383495196401230783noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-202962061904917598.post-25662437367870988422010-03-13T14:47:28.629-05:002010-03-13T14:47:28.629-05:00Town Musicians of Bremen (via Wikipedia)

One by one they leave their homes and set out together. They decide to go to Bremen, known for its freedom, to live without owners and become musicians there.

On the way to Bremen, they see a lighted cottage; they look inside and see four robbers enjoying their ill-gotten gains. Standing on each others backs, they decide to perform for the men in hope of gaining food. Their 'music' has an unanticipated effect; the men run for their lives, not knowing what the strange sound is. The animals take possession of the house, eat a good meal, and settle in for the evening.

Later that night, the robbers return and send one of their members in to investigate. It is dark and he sees the eyes of the Cat shining in the darkness. He reaches over to light his candle, thinking he sees the coals of the fire. Things happen in quick succession; the Cat swipes his face with her claws, the Donkey picks up his hooves and kicks him, the Dog bites him on the leg and the Rooster crows and chases him out the door, screaming. He tells his companions that he was beset by a horrible witch who scratched him with her long fingers (the Cat), an ogre with a knife (the Dog), a giant who had hit him with his club (the Donkey), and worst of all, the dragon who screamed in his voice from the rooftop (the Rooster). The robbers abandon the cottage to the strange creatures who have taken it, where the animals live happily for the rest of their days.

This was a tale by the Brothers Grimm.....
The town of Bremen actually has a statue, and this is ringing a bell for me becuase I am sure when we were in Stuttgart that we visited at one time...

Fond memories!!! :)

XXOO!!
AnneAnne Huskey-Lockardhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01642632328404951486noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-202962061904917598.post-82492027314237228372010-03-13T14:36:16.196-05:002010-03-13T14:36:16.196-05:00Ulrike...delightful picture!
